Some students struggle with switching between reading and writing.  To help these students stay in the "reading gear" have them highlight text and add video responses through sticky notes instead of switching to the "writing gear" required in questions.

Multiple choice questions is also a good alternative to written responses which also gives instant feedback to students.  If you want your students to still do written responses, have them read/highlight/video responses for the first read through and then switch to "writing mode" after they have finished reading.  Students can now use their visible thinking on the page to help them write answers to your questions.
